DPP Preset Macro AS-11 X1

This is the namespace for the IMF OPL Preset Macro “AS11 X1”

As a Preset Macro it does not do anything. Instead, this page describes how an output should be generated by a manual or automated process.

The intended output of this macro is an MXF file to the specifications of the AMWA AS-11 X1 Specification. To create such an output, the following steps may be necessary to achieve success:

  • Identify Markers where used
  • Use (if present) or generate (if not present) a correct 30s Leader
  • Check for presence of AS-11 Metadata Sidecar - fail if not present
  • Conform the CPL to a flat file of AVC LongGop coded video as per AMWA AS-11 X1specification
  • Create AS-11 Metadata output XML from CPL Header field and AS-11 Sidecar
  • Wrap video track, all CPL audio tracks and AS-11 Metadata XML into an AS-11 X1 compliant MXF
  • set beginning of first Programme Segment to timecode 10:00:00:00

Further to the above general steps, conversions of color space, bit-depth, edit-rate, aspect-ratio etc. may be required, which at this point do not carry specific constraints.
The DPP OPL Workgroup is engaged in defining constraints for these steps, together with SMPTE and other industry groups.
Any such work will be published by the DPP or SMPTE and linked from here.

Plugfest Success Criteria

A ‘success’ very much depends on the product type that is processing the sample package provided to the SMPTE Plugfest Group.

A MAM would be expected to list CPL or OPL, and for each choice list related assets (by UUID or name) and optionally whether those assets are accessbile to the MAM. Optionally ingest of the media (and potentially other assets) into the MAM file storage systems.

A Player would be expected to play the CPL correctly, with the (optionally selectable) audio track in sync. It would be desirable for the player to show elapsed edit units or time, allow direct access to a point in the composition and/or allow shuttle/scrub operations.

An OPL processor would be exptected to return the namespace of the Preset Macro of a chosen output the OPL processor. Optionally the OPL processor would confirm whether all required assets are accessible to the OPL Processor in order to create the desired output.
